Giant’s Causeway

In the footsteps of giants…

Flanked by the wild North Atlantic Ocean and a landscape of dramatic cliffs, the Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland’s first UNESCO Heritage Site is a geological wonder and home to a wealth of history and legend. The 40,000 basalt stone columns left by volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago, has captured the imagination of all who see it.

The Giant’s Causeway recognised as one of Northern Ireland’s most precious landscapes is cared for by the National Trust, a registered charity founded to protect beautiful and special places for ever, for everyone.

Explore a state of the art interpretation within the award winning Visitor Centre to unlock the mystery, myth and legend of this amazing place as it offers a unique glimpse into the wonder that is the Giant’s Causeway.

Visitors can explore the world-famous basalt columns accompanied by an experienced National Trust Ranger, or follow the way-marked trails and enjoy spectacular coastal scenery accompanied by an innovative audio-guide available in 11 different languages.

Tickets for the Visitor Experience includes access to;

The state of the art Visitor Center featuring an illuminating exhibition showcasing the stories and the science behind the Giant’s Causeway.

Innovative pocket size audio guide available in 11 languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, Russian, Polish and Portuguese.

Optional guided walk led by an experienced member of the National Trust team. (Available daily at hourly intervals during off-peak times and becoming more frequent during peak season; please contact Visitor Information for exact timings).

A retail area introducing new and exclusive locally crafted products.

Tourist Information (please note this service at the centre is free to access).

Fully accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility for people with disabilities.

A grab and go style café.

By choosing to visit a National Trust place you will be helping protect Northern Ireland’s natural and cultural heritage for present and future generations to enjoy.

 

 

 

Admission Prices:

Adults £12.50

Children (Ages 5-17, Under 5’s Free) £6.25

Family (2 adults + up to 3 children) £31.25

National Trust members Free

Opening times

Stones and coastal path open daily from dawn until dusk.

Visitor Centre

1 January – 28 February: 09:00 – 17:00

1 March – 31 May: 09:00 – 18:00

1 June – 30 September: 09:00 – 19:00

October: 09:00 – 18:00

November – December: 09:00 – 17:00

Closed 24, 25 and 26 December.

Last admission to Visitor Centre is one hour before closing.

 

Additional Information

If you park within the defined area of the visitor experience, the admission charge will be applied.

Pedestrian access to the Giant’s Causeway is free. However, if you wish to use any of the facilities at the site, including parking but excluding the Visitor Information service, the visitor experience charge will apply.

Pre-purchase and save: visit giantscausewaytickets.com and save £1.50 on adult admission, 75p on child admission and £3.75 on family admission.

Go green and save. Arrive by public transport, bicycle or on foot and save £1.50 on adult admission, 75p on child admission and £3.75 on family admission.

Green admission discount also available from Park and Ride in Bushmills village (March to October). Green savings applied at admission point.

Shuttlebus to stones is operated by Translink and a separate charge applies to non-members. National Trust members who present their membership cards travel for free as do Northern Ireland Senior Citizens who present a Smart Pass.
