Kilclief Castle

Built between 1412 and 1441 this Castle (tower house) is the earliest built in the Co Down district and is a State Care Historic Monument.  The castle is four storeys tall, the first floor is vaulted in stone with two projecting turrets, one of which contains spiral stairs and the other a series of garderobes with access from three of the four floors. The ground floor is a semicircular barrel vault built on wicker centering.

The Castle can be viewed all year round from the outside, guided tours can be arranged during the months of July and August.
